Week 6 Blog

 Sketching Interiors

The chapter this week focuses on texture.

Being able to represent texture for different materials is an important skill to master. This chapter describes ways that you can represent texture with pencil, pen, and ink. We start this chapter learning how to correctly show ceilings, roofs, skylights and different interior spaces with a change in texture. Different exercises allow us to understand how to draw masonry, windows, shadows, and openings with a mix of values, strokes, and tones. The final exercise puts all of the steps together to be able to draw shadows, openings, and landscape together with both ink and pencil.

These exercises allowed me to try the ideas from the chapter in real life and understand what it means to draw shadows, openings, landscape, windows, and texture!

  3. Grace,
I loved your summary. This was a very difficult assignment and the fact that you tackled two sketches was impressive. I thought your sketches were excellent. It is not easy to portray all of these textures! 25/25 points
