The Elements of Interior Design Blog: Week 1
BLOG WEEK 1 In class we talked about the Elements of Interior Design.We talked about the importance of a line and how this most basic element is usually the “focal point”, which is one of the most fundamental components of Interior Design because it is the first thing viewers see. We also have a line. There are four main types of lines we see in Interior Design: Horizontal, Vertical, Diagonal, and Curved. These each characterize a certain tone or feeling set in the space and add a specific aesthetic to an area. In different spaces, different lines work best, whether you want to create a sense of peace, comfort, grandeur, energy, movement or grace. We also talked about the importance of planes, form, space and volume. These elements of design, though they seem straight forward and somewhat basic, are the key features in successful atmospheres.
